Lithos Kids is releasing a new graphic novel adaptation of The Pilgrim’s Progress on October 28th, titled Christian’s Quest by Tyler Van Halteren! This fully illustrated and cloth-bound hardcover edition will be part of their Pilgrim’s Progress Graphic Novel Series. The illustrator, Manuel Zepic, has done a phenomenal job at capturing all the emotions in this classic Christian allegory. The illustrations and panels are beautiful and so well-colored.
I am so excited because my children have enjoyed Tyler’s adaptation for children in the Little Pilgrim’s Big Journey series (which has sold over 250,000 copies). Christian’s Quest will be a great stepping stone for young readers who are not ready for the original Pilgrim’s Progress, or for older readers who enjoy visual storytelling. This is an engaging and transformative graphic novel for all ages. And I can’t wait for John Bunyan’s story to reach a new audience!

Lithos Kids says this graphic novel is for ages 8 and up and hopes teens and adults alike will enjoy this graphic novel. Saying that, it is not G-rated like their fully illustrated children’s series. Christian’s Quest has scenes of peril and images that may be frightening for some younger or more sensitive kids. This includes images of Apollyon, hobgoblins, Leviathan, and Giant Despair. However, these scenes are minimal, resolve, and offer hope.
Overall, Christian’s Quest will be enjoyed by so many. It is sure to be a family favorite!
