If you like to take a copious amount of Bible notes, draw pictures, or partake in hermeneutical or exegetical study of Scripture, then you will love the new ESV Spiral-Bound Journaling Bible Five-Volume Set from Crossway! While I normally prefer the CSB, the layout for this ESV Bible is like none other.
In the past, I would often print Scripture passages with double-space and wide margins so there would be room to annotate. I then saw that Crossway had a single column journaling New Testament, which I loved. The only downside was that the pages were very thin, and they didn’t have an Old Testament option available. And then that edition went out of print.

That’s why I am so thrilled that Crossway has released a set of single column double-spaced journaling Bibles with thicker paper. Not only that, but it’s beautifully bound with a pastel hardcover (sorry, guys!) and spiral binding. This is not a travel Bible, as my Prophets volume weighs almost 3 lbs and is 11″ x 10″ x 1″ W. But it is a delight to journal in.

Pros:
+ My Micron pens and highlighters do not bleed through the paper
+ I can glue and tape notes to the paper
+ Lays flat — no need to use heavy objects to hold down the pages
+ I bet there’s a way to attach pages to the spiral binding!
Cons:
+ The spiral bound isn’t for everyone, but I understand that due to the amount of pages and size, it is probably is better for the binding.
+ Because it is spiral bound, you have to be careful when turning the pages that they don’t rip. However, the paper seems pretty sturdy.
+ It’s quite large, so not easy to travel with or tote around

Overall, I am very pleased with this journaling Bible! Not only are these excellent for studying the Bible, but it would make great gifts! When I’m finished studying the Prophets, I will definitely look into getting the other volumes.
I received this book from Crossway in exchange for an honest review.
