The Good Book Company just released a discipleship course for teens called Life with Jesus: Youth Edition. This workbook was written by Tim Chester and Katy Morgan for ages 11 and up. They understand that many youth are looking to “live life to the full in one way or another” and their desire was to show Jesus came to give us life to the full. This is a great hook to engage the minds of postmodern teens and to share how they can find purpose, wisdom, and hope in Jesus!

Chester and Morgan split Life with Jesus: Youth Edition into 12 mini-chapters or “sessions” exploring foundational truths like the gospel, union with Christ, communion, prayer, money, romance, and more. Each section begins with a story, followed by a Bible reading and questions for the teen to observe and apply the Bible. Then, there is a teaching section called “Think it Through.” The way the book is set up, it can be easily handed over to an individual teen, used in family devotions, or used in a small group setting.

This is a great resource to give to a new believer or use as a first discipleship tool in a youth group. Chester and Morgan write in an engaging way and communicate foundational doctrines without boredom or confusion. I would have loved to have learned these basic doctrines and truths when I first placed my trust in Jesus as a preteen, but I didn’t learn many of them, like union with Christ or special revelation, until I graduated from high school.
If you’re looking for a workbook for your preteen or teen, then this is an excellent one to pick up!
I received this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.
