A Very Happy Easter by Tim Thornborough

An interactive picture book from The Good Book Company, written by Tim Thornborough. This short paperback picture book tells the story of Easter through emotions — and invites the kids to “copy the face they are making, and think about how they would have felt.”

This is a great way to keep younger listeners engaged to the story, and a wonderful way to help them remember the story through acting out the different emotions. The story begins with Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, leads up to his crucifixion and resurrection, and ends with Jesus sending everyone to tell the good news.

Parents of more sensitive kids may appreciate this book as it has no pictures of Jesus on a cross, or being nailed to a cross. It just shows a silhouette of the cross in the distance. Jesus shows up later in the story after his has risen.

All the characters look like kids, and it reminds me of a children’s church play.
