Saint Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to get to know the holiday’s namesake, Saint Patrick! Kids and adults alike will enjoy the riveting tale of Patrick, a British boy who was sold into slavery in Ireland, came to know God, and later returned as a freedman to take the gospel message to Ireland!

Saint Patrick the Forgiver by Ned Bustard is a superbly illustrated rhyming picture book. His illustrations are so full of life and tell a story in and of themselves. Paired with large print rhymes, he has created an engaging tale that will be enjoyed by kids and adults of all ages.

“‘Come walk again among us,’
the Irish folk were crying.
And although their call was desp’rate,
my heart was not complying.”
I really appreciate how Ned Bustard used beautiful language in this picture book. Oftentimes, modern picture book biographies can be dumbed down simple facts about a person, but Bustard chooses delightful words tell different aspects of Saint Patrick’s life. Bustard ends with a note saying, “When you think of Saint Patrick, I hope you remember how his life was transformed by God’s love, forgiveness, and grace.”
If you are looking for an excellent picture book to read with your kids this St. Patrick’s Day, this is the one you want to get!

The publisher sent me these books in exchange for an honest review.
