Book Review: The King of Christmas: All God’s Children Search for Jesus by Todd Hains
Lexham Press, 2022
44 pages

Are you looking for a fun Christmas themed picture book to read during Advent season? The King of Christmas from Lexham Press is part of their “FatCat Book” series. As soon as it arrived in our home, my cat loving ten-year-old son claimed the book as his own. It helps that we have a very fat cat in our household, so the books were so fitting for our family.

Both of my kids enjoyed reading about the search for the King of Christmas and following the magi on their search. The illustrations are not only lovely and colorful but also so interactive. On each page, kids can search for hidden animals such as a fat cat, bird, firefly, or a fish in a bowl.
Besides being an enjoyable family picture book, it also highlights the message of the gospel — the Jesus was born, lived, was put to death on a cross, and rose again from the dead.

At the end of the picture book, there is a Christmas Prayer that you can pray together as a family, and a helpful note for parents which I especially enjoyed!
The King of Christmas is a great addition to any family’s stack of Christmas books!
