God’s Daring Dozen by Wright & Brown

Book Review: God’s Daring Dozen: A Minor Prophet Series by Brian J. Wright and John R. Brown
Christian Focus Publications, 2021 & 2023

As a child, I can’t recall learning much about the Minor Prophets, and when I read them as a young adult I was often confused, as they are full of poetry and prophesy. I wasn’t sure who was talking and what are they talking about. So it can be challenging to know how they are beneficial to our Christian walks today.

Nowadays, the Minor Prophets are endearing, as they provide so much hope amidst overwhelming life situations or those discouraged by world news. They respond to questions like: Why does evil prevail? Does God even care? Will Jesus really come back?

The Minor Prophets remind us that God has not left us, but will keep his promises to us. Just as the Israelites looked for the coming Christ, we, too, are looking for a returning Christ. This is why I am so excited for God’s Daring Dozen: A Minor Prophet Series written by Brian J. Wright and John R. Brown.

Each book in this series is an adaptation of a separate book of the Minor Prophets and is written with ages 4-10  in mind.  These short stories are a great way for kids, and adults, to become familiar with lesser-known Bible stories. They are great way to increase biblical literacy, and they also remind us of the mighty, good, and faithful God in hope we place our hope!

The God’s Daring Dozen series is fully illustrated and is sure to engage with kids of all ages. The books released in the series so far are:

So if you and your kids are looking for a way to become familiar with the structure and plot of each Minor Prophet, I would highly recommend this series!

The publisher sent me these books for review consideration but all opinions are my own.
